Setting Up a Thermal Printer for Receipt Printing

BillBook supports thermal receipt printing, allowing businesses to print sales receipts instantly for faster checkout.
Types of Thermal Printers Supported
1. Thermal Line Printers (Direct Thermal) – Recommended
- Easy to install & use
- Works with browser-based printing
- Supports paper width: 79mm
- Compatible with Windows, Mac, Android & tablets
2. Thermal ESC/POS Printers
- Supports direct receipt printing
- Requires print server installation
Setting Up a Thermal Line Printer
Step 1: Install the printer and its drivers.
Step 2: Configure Printer in BillBook
- Go to → Settings → Business Locations
- Click on Settings (Green Button)
- Change Receipt Printer Type to Browser-Based Printing
- Click Save
Step 3: Set Invoice Layout for Thermal Printing
- Go to → Settings → Invoice Layout
- Select Slim Design for Thermal Printers
Setting Up an ESC/POS Thermal Printer
Step 1: Add the Printer in BillBook
- Go to → Settings → Receipt Printer → Add Printer
- Select Connection Type (Network IP or USB file path)
- Choose the Capability Profile and enter characters per line.
- Click Save
Step 2: Configure the Business Location
- Go to → Settings → Business Locations → Settings (Green Button)
- Change Receipt Printer Type to Use Configured Receipt Printer
- Select your Receipt Printer from the dropdown.
- Click Update
Printing via Bluetooth Thermal Printer on Mobile/Tablets
- No extra setup required — simply pair the printer with your phone and print like a regular document.
