How do I add VAT to a price?
Multiply the price by the VAT rate and add the result. At 18%, VAT on Rs 1,000 is Rs 180, so the price including VAT is Rs 1,180.
How do I take VAT out of a price that includes VAT?
Divide the price by 1 plus the rate. At 18%, Rs 1,180 divided by 1.18 is Rs 1,000 before VAT, so the VAT is Rs 180.
