Setting Up a Printer to Automatically Open the Cash Drawer

BillBook allows businesses to automatically open the cash drawer when printing a receipt, streamlining the checkout process.

Steps to Configure the Cash Drawer with a Receipt Printer

Step 1: Connect the Cash Drawer to the Receipt Printer

  • Plug in the RJ12 connector cable from the cash drawer into the receipt printer.

Step 2: Configure Printer Settings in Windows

  • Go to → Windows Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners
  • Select your Receipt Printer and click Manage
  • Click Printer Properties → Open the Device Settings tab

Step 3: Set Up the Cash Drawer Trigger

  • Under Installable Options, find Peripheral Unit Type
  • Change it to Cash Drawer
  • Modify Peripheral Unit 1 & Peripheral Unit 2:
    • To open AFTER the receipt prints → Set both to Document Bottom
    • To open BEFORE the receipt prints → Set both to Document Top
  • Click OK to save

Step 4: Test the Configuration

  • Perform a test sale in BillBook POS
  • Print a receipt and check if the cash drawer opens automatically

If the cash drawer does not open, ensure the correct receipt printer is selected in BillBook POS settings.
