Sometimes suppliers offer free items or bonus quantities when making a purchase. BillBook allows you to record these free items properly, ensuring your inventory and cost calculations remain accurate. 🚀📦
🔹 Two Ways to Add Free Items in Purchases #
✅ Solution 1: Enter Free Items with 0 Price #
- Go to → Purchases → Add Purchase
- Add the free product as a separate entry.
- Set the Purchase Price to $0.00.
📌 Best For: When you want to track free items separately but not affect cost calculations.
✅ Solution 2: Adjust the Unit Cost with Average Price #
Instead of adding the free item separately, you can distribute the cost across the purchased items.
Example Calculation:
- You buy 10 units at $2 each → Total cost = $20
- Supplier gives 2 extra units for free
- Your total quantity becomes 12
- The new unit cost is $20 ÷ 12 = $1.66 per unit
Steps in BillBook:
- Go to → Purchases → Add Purchase
- Enter the total quantity received (including free items).
- Use the adjusted unit price ($1.66 in this case).
📌 Best For: When you want to distribute the cost across all units for accurate profit calculation.
